Volunteer Information

Lima Allen County Head Start is looking for a few good men and women to help make our program great!

Head Start is a federally funded program for low income children ages 3 to 5 years. The goal of Head Start is to provide children with experiences that help them develop emotionally, physically, socially and intellectually. Children benefit from developmentally appropriate activities such as, creative arts, music, language experiences and play.

Parents, and other family members benefit from a wide variety of activities that help them to become more involved in their child's education. Parents are offered courses on parenting, job skills, GED, child development and health just to name a few.

Head Start needs members of the community to share their time and expertise with children and their families. Volunteers can read stories to children, teach music, art and physical activities to children, help supervise on field trips and most importantly Volunteers will be giving the time and attention that young children need to grow up healthy and happy. Volunteers can also offer workshops to parents on many subjects such as car repair, gardening, budgeting, crafts and more.

We have volunteer positions available in several locations in Allen County. To find out more about how to become a Head Start volunteer please contact Phyllis Montrose at 419-227-9953 or fill out our Volunteer Interest Form.
